Turkey earned 1.030 billion USD of income from
hazelnut exports in the first eight months of the export season that began in
September 2009.
The Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association said Turkey
exported
165,383 tons of hazelnut between September 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010
and
earned 1.030 billion USD from its exports.
Turkey exported 123,360 tons of hazelnut to European Union (EU) member
states,
19,243 tons to non-EU European countries, 13,575 tons to overseas
countries,
and 9,205 tons to other countries.
In the same period of the previous season (September 1, 2008 and April
30,
2009), Turkey exported 188,146 tons of hazelnuts and earned 896.9
billion USD.
Exporting to almost 90 countries, Turkey has the biggest share in
hazelnut production
and export in the world.
