Ordu is located in the East side of Black Sea Region. There is the Black Sea at its north, Tokat and Sivas at its south, Giresun at its east, and Samsun at its west. It is located between 40-41 North latitudes and 37-38 East longitudes. Ordu has an area of 5961 km², which is surrounded by alluvial soils that are formed by rivers such as Melet, Civil, and Akcaova watercourses. According to the census of 2008, Ordu has a population of  715.409 citizens.
